She was a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) for almost a decade in a variety of settings including The Cleveland Clinic Lerner School for Autism and a variety of in-home and daycare settings. Alex conducted research on effective and evidence-based teaching methods for childcare providers and teachers to reduce challenging behavior in their respective settings. Other research areas include feeding interventions, modifications to desensitization protocols for haircutting, and computerized cognitive testing adaptations for children with Down syndrome. Dr. Melchiorre has extensive experience working closely with multidisciplinary teams and enjoys consulting with schools and therapy providers. Alex has a passion for treatment and therapy; especially as it relates to parent training, specific phobias, and increasing functional daily living skills including feeding and toileting. Her clinical orientation is derived from a strengths-based, family-centered, behavior analytic approach.
Dr. Melchiorre has enjoyed her time in a variety of Ohio’s major cities. However, nothing compares to being back home in Northeastern Ohio! She is recently married and enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and party planning! While not at work, you may find her at Rosati’s for ice cream or trying a new, local restaurant!
